Singer Fashion Disc & Flexi-Stitch Pattern Cams

Prior to the development of electronic machines, several Zigzag models used changeable pattern cams to produce a variety of decorative stitch patterns.

Early pattern cams known as ‘FASHION Discs’ were black with single cams. The first series of Fashion Discs for models such as the 306 and 328 were flat discs. The Fashion Discs produced for later models were black ‘Top Hat’ shaped and fitted into the top of the machines.

The next development was the introduction of white Flexi-Stitch cams. Initially these were of a similar shape to the black top hat Fashion Discs, but had twin cams. These cams also controlled the machine feed as well as the sideways movement of the needle to allow the production of more complex stitch patterns.

Flexi-Stitch cams for later models reverted to a flat disc design.
