Singer 223U, 224U & 226U Sewing Machines

The Singer models 223U, 224U and 226U were produced at the Utsunomiya factory in Japan during the 1960’s, The serial numbers for these models therefore take the form of the letters TA followed by a sequence of 6 digits.

223U

The 223U was a cast iron zigzag machine that could be powered by treadle (223U1), hand crank (223U2) or external motor (223U3).

224U

The 224U was a cast iron zigzag machine that could be powered by treadle (224U1), hand crank (224U2) or external motor (224U3). The 224 machines were provided with a set of 6 interchangeable pattern cams.

226U

The 226U was a cast iron zigzag machine that could be powered by treadle (226U1), hand crank (226U2) or external motor (226U3). The 226 machines were provided with a set of 6 interchangeable pattern cams. The 226U models incorporated a dial on the faceplate to adjust the pressure on the presser foot.
